The film is narrated by American actor and Ford brand ambassador Denis Leary. “The race’s exotic setting and exciting visual elements made it a ...

  • The Ford Mustang is now the best-selling sports car in the world, according to IHS Markit new vehicle registration data. In 2016, sales of the Mustang increased 6% to approximately 150,000 units. Success was largely driven by international markets, most notably Germany and China: Nearly 45,000 Mustangs were sold in the U.S. last year, a jump of 101%. In Canada, the Mustang is the number one best-selling sports car since 1985. “The legacy of Mustang continues to grow, and in places it never reached before,” said Mark Schaller, Ford Mustang marketing manager. “We continue to make it available in new markets, and ...

  • There’s no denying small SUVs have had a remarkable impact on the automotive market: in Canada, they have dethroned compact cars, while in the United States it is midsize sedans that have given way before the tide of small utility vehicles. Midsize sedans used to dominate the market south of the border, but have seen their sales in North America fall by 10.7%. Only two makes have bucked this downward trend in the category: Chevrolet with its new, redesigned Malibu (+25%) and Nissan with its Altima (+6.3%). The negative side of the ledger includes Ford’s Fusion (-6.3%); its 2016 Canadian ...

  • The all-new Ford GT is the fastest Ford production vehicle on the track ever, achieving a maximum speed of 216 mph (347 km/h). More than that, with a lap time of 2:09.8 minutes at Calabogie Motorsports Park in Ontario, it even beat some renowned supercars like the McLaren 675LT (2:10.8) and Ferrari 458 Speciale (2:12.9). How did it pull that off? Well, you can start with the Ford GT’s new 3.5L V6 rated at 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque—90% of which comes in from 3,500 rpm. This is the highest output of any EcoBoost production engine to date. ...

  • The two most emblematic models from Ford, the Mustang and the F-150, will be available in hybrid versions within the next five years, according to an announcement made in January by the automaker. In addition, no fewer than 11 other electrically powered models will be launched by Ford by 2022, including an electric SUV with a range of 300 miles, or over 480 km. What’s more, the company intends to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Transit Custom van by 2029, albeit exclusively for the European market. Few details have been forthcoming as of yet regarding the new ...

The 2018 Expedition also benefits from an all-new, high-strength, aluminum-alloy body and redesigned high-strength steel frame ensuring rugged performance while simultaneously ...

  • On the eve of the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford finally jumped on the sub-compact SUV bandwagon in North America by introducing the new EcoSport. Already sold in other markets around the world, the Blue Oval claims it gives drivers the freedom and versatility to go small and live big. “More people are choosing to spend their time and money sharing experiences with friends and family instead of buying more stuff,” said Chantel Lenard, ‎executive director, Ford U.S. marketing. “EcoSport fits perfectly into this growing ...

  • Popular? You bet. It would be easy to try and pin the Ford Fusion’s success on styling alone, but there’s a lot more to its strong sales than first meets the eye.  Good refresh The refreshed 2017 Ford Fusion gets some subtle, yet very nice visual improvements, from a faintly reworked grille, more angular headlamps, and a revised lower fascia to classier LED taillights incorporating ritzy chrome strikethroughs that stretch right across the car’s backside. But Ford is attacking midsize competitors from every other angle, too.  The new 325-horsepower, twin-turbocharged AWD Sport V6 might be getting all the headlines, but ...

  • Those who follow the development of green vehicles have long known that more hybrid, electric and fuel -cell vehicles are sold in California than in any other American state. What’s more, the ...

  • Ford will shut down all its dealerships and stop sales and imports of Ford and Lincoln vehicles in both Japan and Indonesia. Why? Because the company sees "no reasonable path to profitability" in those markets, according to Ford Asia Pacific President Dave Schoch, as reported by Reuters. R&D will also be shifted from Japan to an undisclosed location. Ford is following the lead of General Motors, which last year decided to stop manufacturing cars in Indonesia — resulting in the loss of 500 jobs. The Blue Oval debuted in Japan in 1974, but sold a mere 5,000 units there in ...

  •   In a world everything is barely sufficient to survive, a faster, more powerful, capable and hardcore pickup is a must. And I’m being serious. Mostly.  The arrival of the latest F-150 for the 2015 model year meant nothing less than the coming of a new Raptor. For the 2ne coming of the most #badass full-size pickup, Ford’s not left any stone untouched.  The most noteworthy elements are the addition of Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6, replacing the stonking 6.2L V8. Out is the 6-speed autobox, in is a *gasp* 10-speed automatic… Horsepower numbers have not yet been revealed however expect the stampede ...

  • Ford is the first automaker to experiment with Mcity, the artificial town designed by the University of Michigan to help companies test their self-driving car technologies in real-world conditions. A driverless Ford Fusion Hybrid Autonomous Research Vehicle, which merges today’s driver-assist technologies such as front-facing cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors, and adds four LiDAR sensors to generate a real-time 3D map of its surrounding environment, hit the streets of Mcity to simulate different scenarios. In addition to the Blue Oval, General Motors and Toyota also have top priority at Mcity because they are paying $1 million over three years. Unlike ...

  • I’ve said it before and will surely say it many times more: We live in interesting automotive times. The rush towards alternative and more efficient variations to the old internal combustion engine is well underway. From small displacement, turbocharging, diesel, hybrids, EVs and more, the options are plenty, but not one fits all needs. At least not at the moment.  Ford launched EcoBoost roughly six years ago, and it quickly became synonymous with efficiency and “going green.” As brilliant as Ford’s marketing campaigns have been, the fact is that “boost” has demonstrated to be greater than “eco” in many applications. ...

  • Success, in the 2015 Ford Escape’s case. In fact, the Ford Escape has been the best selling compact ute nearly since its arrival in 2000 as a 2001. The funny thing is that the Escape has never really made it on anyone’s recommended buy list, yet it’s crushed its competitors repeatedly -- and continues to do so.  In fact, it’s been on the receiving end of numerous service bulletins and recalls, but the fact remains that what it does well (when it’s doing it) is being a good family-do-anything hauler. Despite its checkered recent past, the completely revamped for 2013 ...

  • It’s amazing how good you can feel about yourself after a haircut. I know, as a woman, it’s usually about a bit more than a trim. From colour to layers to blow-outs (and even a shaved side, perhaps?), when we get our hair did we go all out. So, after all is said and done, the result is a renewed feeling of self-worth and confidence.  Well, I think the 2015 Ford Edge is feeling about the same right about now, all puffed up with pride and feeling smoking hot after its interior and exterior redesign. It definitely looks better than ...

  • Pros: The Ford Flex offers plenty of interior space, plus the entire lineup of Ford gadgets and interior technology you’ve come to know and love.  Cons: While the Flex may appeal to those in need of a family vehicle who don’t want to purchase a minivan, the look of the Flex is starting to get a bit dated and is boxy by today’s vehicle design standards.  2015 Ford Flex Price and Fuel Economy: There are three versions of the 2015 Ford Flex available and they are as follows:  2015 Ford Flex SE $30,899 2015 Ford Flex SEL $37,699 2015 Ford Flex Limited $44,799  ...

  • Pros: The Ford C-Max offers a versatile, fuel efficient option for young families looking for a hybrid alternative to the Toyota Prius.  Cons: There’s quite a price jump for the plug-in version that may deter some buyers. And the backseat is not the most comfortable place to be, truth be told.  2015 Ford C-Max Price and Fuel Economy: There are two hybrid and one plug-in version of the 2015 Ford C-Max and they are as follows:  2015 Ford C-Max $25,999 2015 Ford C-Max Energi $35,499 2015 Ford C-Max Hybrid SEL $29,849 The price jump for the Energi is due to the plug-in nature ...

  • In an effort to accelerate the development of electric vehicles, Ford has agreed to make its patents available to competitors, much like Tesla did with its Supercharger stations. Last year alone, Ford filed more than 400 patents dedicated to electrified vehicle technologies, which represents over 20% of all the patents the company filed.  “Innovation is our goal,” said Kevin Layden, director, Ford Electrification Programs. “The way to provide the best technology is through constant development and progress. By sharing our research with other companies, we will accelerate the growth of electrified vehicle technology and deliver even better products to customers.”  ...

  • Katherine Sirois, a 17-year-old student at Durocher College in Saint-Lambert, Quebec, has created a unique hat for drivers that can detect signs of drowsiness behind the wheel, the Journal de Montréal reports. How exactly does it work? An EEG unit is built in the hat and connected to a micro-computer the size of a credit card to monitor the brain's electrical activity. When it detects alpha waves, which are a sign of imminent sleep, the system sends an auditory signal in a fraction of a second to awaken the driver and refocus their attention to the road, potentially saving their ...

  • Samsung wants to make big trucks and vans transparent, or to be more accurate, allow other drivers to see through them. The tech giant is currently experimenting with a so-called “Safety Truck,” The Verge reports, and is working to obtain regulatory approval for the deployment.  How does it work? In case you were hoping for a cloak of invisibility, guess again. There's no magic trick involved here, but rather cameras mounted in front of the truck and four large TV monitors fitted to the back doors. This way, drivers behind the truck can see exactly what they otherwise couldn't, and ...

  • Lead-footed drivers who are tired of paying for speeding tickets may want to take a good look at the new Ford S-MAX and its Intelligent Speed Limiter. Please note that this model has yet to be confirmed for North America, however.   The Blue Oval's technology detects and reads speed limit signs on the side of the road before setting the vehicle’s cruise control accordingly and automatically. When there are no signs around, the system can use GPS data to determine the speed limit. Rather than hitting the brakes, the Intelligent Speed Limiter cuts fuel delivery in order to smooth ...

With a 5.2L engine under the hood, drivers can expect to have over 520 horses at their disposal. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2015 and showcase its performance and capabilities at various race tracks across the U.S. including Laguna Seca, Road America, Watkins Glen, and Sebring, just to name a ...

  • Ford is reporting a 56% loss in fourth-quarter profit for 2014, a year in which the company launched 24 vehicles worldwide while its U.S. market share declined. The Blue Oval's annual net income dropped from $7.2 billion in 2013 to $3.2 billion in 2014, and while it recorded a 22nd consecutive profitable quarter with $52 million, that was down from $3 billion in the same period a year earlier. Decreasing profit can be explained in part by a previously disclosed pre-tax charge related to currency devaluation in Venezuela, costs related to job cuts in Europe and Asia Pacific, and efforts ...

The resulting design is 65% lighter with an inflator that is approximately 75% smaller than a conventional knee airbag inflator. Since the glove box-integrated airbag extends straight out from the instrument panel, it doesn’t have to travel as far as a conventional airbag, which deploys toward the floor before curving upward.  The new airbag will be introduced later this ...

  • According to reports from Edmunds, Ford will use the upcoming North American International Auto Show in Detroit to unveil the new F-150 SVT Raptor and redesigned Focus RS. The former is based on the aluminum-bodied 2015 F-150 which recently arrived at Ford dealerships. We don't know whether it will be sold as a 2015 or 2016 model, let alone when it will hit the market exactly. As for the new Focus RS, it will be launched worldwide as a direct competitor of the Honda Civic Si and other hot compacts. Once again, Ford gave no specifics about the model year and ...

  • Dearborn, MI -- As much as Ford have tried to update their SYNC and MyFord Touch infotainment interfaces over the years, it would only go as far as its hardware could take it. That means that while the graphics may change a little, and the fonts may be altered, you couldn’t get away from often-sluggish speeds and responsiveness. Indeed, almost every story I've written -- and most I've read -- about Ford products has involved some complaint regarding SYNC. Not to mention that by Ford’s own admission, they’ve looked at more customer feedback for SYNC than any other tech they’ve produced.  ...

  • Pros: The 2015 Ford Fiesta Sedan is a small modern sedan with nifty interior and exterior styling. It has an impressive selection of normally-aspirated and turbocharged engines as well as many standard technological features. Be careful when checking-off the options list, as they will quickly inflate the starting price.   Photo: Ford 2015 Ford Fiesta Price: For 2015, Ford offers ...

  • Hollywood, CA — When you’re known for doing something, like really known, and you tend to do that something really, really well, you’d better not mess it up the next time you try and do it in front of a bunch of people expecting you to be nothing short of amazing at it. Ford is known for the Mustang. This is their storied, cult classic car that’s made their brand the thing of boyhood posters and manhood fantasies. The Mustang is one of those cars, like the Challenger and Corvette, that young boys (and girls) craned necks to see as ...

  • Starting November 19th, visitors at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show will get to see a new version of the Ford Explorer. A social media campaign has been launched using the hashtag #ExploreMore. The 2016 Ford Explorer will go on sale next year in North America, arriving in time to celebrate its 25th anniversary.  We don't know much about the vehicle except that it will feature a new look, added capability, and additional driver-assist technology.  Nearly 7 million units have been sold in the U.S. since the Explorer debuted in 1990 and popularized the SUV segment.

  • By late 2018, the popular Toyota Prius will have a new threat to ward off. Two separate sources close to the matter told Reuters that Ford is planning to launch a brand new hybrid model to rival the best-selling Japanese icon, which will enter its 4th generation next year. The as-yet-unnamed vehicle will reportedly go on sale as a 2019 model. It will be a “dedicated” hybrid rather than a spinoff of a regular model. Similar to the Prius, Ford's new hybrid could be available in various body styles. A plug-in hybrid is obviously in the cards. Fuel economy and ...

  • Similar to BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Ford wants to use GPS data to increase the fuel efficiency of its hybrid vehicles. Called “Green Zone,” the new system will automatically switch to EV mode whenever the time is right. With the help of the navigation system, Green Zone is able to detect when a car is entering a corner, approaching a hill or driving on the highway. As a result, the car could save its battery charge for the most EV-friendly situations. Green Zone may wind up in Ford's next-generation hybrid vehicles if it meets efficiency and safety expectations. In its preliminary ...

  • Ford today announced the three engines that will be available with the all-new 2015 Mustang when it goes on sale at the end of this year. The standard unit will be a 300-horsepower, naturally aspirated V6, which is a familiar unit in the Mustang range. Customers will also have the option of a brand new 2.3L 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine that's turbocharged and direct injected to produce 310 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque -- the best-ever power density from a Ford engine. “This EcoBoost engine delivers the healthy output Mustang drivers expect, regardless of the car’s speed,” said Scott Makowski, ...

  • If you're planning to buy a brand new 2015 Ford F-150, expect plenty of selection when it comes to the powertrain. In addition to the proven 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and 5.0L V8 with twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT), the Blue Oval will offer a pair of new V6 engines to meet the needs of a greater number of customers. The standard 3.5L V6 with Ti-VCT achieves a 5% improvement in power-to-weight ratio over the larger 3.7L unit in the 2014 F-150, with better fuel efficiency and performance. It produces 283 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque, has a maximum ...

  • According to a Ford spokeswoman, Sara Tatchio, the company will start phasing out BlackBerry smartphones for employees in the next few months and replace them with iPhones from Apple. That's 3,300 devices this year, and another 6,000 over the next two years. Ford deems iPhones to be more practical.“It meets the overall needs of the employees because it is able to serve both our business needs in a secure way and the needs we have in our personal lives with a single device,” Tatchio said. It's another big blow to BlackBerry, which has lost several major customers in recent years ...

  • Pickup trucks and environmental protection don't usually go hand-in-hand. The all-new 2015 Ford F-150 changes all that by making extensive use of recycled and bio-based materials. For instance, recycled cotton and blue jean production scraps provide sound insulation, plastic bottles find new life in the cloth seat fabric, the wiring harness includes 10% rice hull content, while soy-based polyurethane is on the seat backs, headliners and seat cushions. Check out this infographic and you'll see how the 2015 Ford F-150 is much greener than meets the eye.

  • Ford yesterday announced the upcoming launch of a new advanced steering technology that will help make vehicles easier to manoeuvre at low speeds and in tight spaces. Adaptive Steering changes the ratio between the driver’s actions at the steering wheel -- the number of turns -- and how much the front wheels turn. The technology will be available on select models beginning next year, although Ford did not specify which ones.

  • Hot on the heels of the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150, the Blue Oval is introducing the Lightweight Concept -- essentially a 2013 Ford Fusion that lost about 25% of its kilos and now weighs the same as a Fiesta! The Lightweight Concept features lighter seat frames, a carbon fibre dashboard, an aluminum chassis and brake discs, along with polycarbonate windows. Magnesium, high-strength steel, and advanced composites were used, as well. Under the hood is a Focus-sourced, 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine. The impact of all the lightweight components on fuel economy has yet to be revealed, however.

  • TORONTO, Ont. -- When Ford introduced the Mustang 50 years ago, it was the beginning of an enduring and much-loved cultural icon. To celebrate the birthday of this legendary pony car, more than 125 members of the Golden Horseshoe Mustang Association and GTA Mustang Club gathered at Ontario Place, and 25 classic Mustangs formed a giant "50" for a commemorative aerial shot. When the Mustang arrived in 1964, it created a new segment: the pony car. Small, economical and with a modicum of practicality, the Mustang was a new type of muscle car, an attainable one, a sports car for ...

  • As part of the iconic muscle car's 50th anniversary celebration, Ford will display the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang convertible on the observation deck of the Empire State Building in New York City on April 16-17. Since no portable crane can reach the 86th floor observatory, and the spire towering above the relatively narrow deck makes helicopter delivery impossible, engineers will have to slice the Mustang convertible into three main sections plus windshield so that they can fit into the elevators. Interestingly, Ford pulled off that same feat with a prototype convertible in 1965. “Like all good craftsmen, our team is ...
